Piston compressors are ideal for applications with intermittent air requirements, i.e. where consumption is irregular and interrupted by long breaks. Typical examples include the operation of air tools, blowguns and spray guns, and the inflation of tyres, packers and pipe stoppers. In combination with screw compressors, piston compressors are also used as a reserve for occasional consumption peaks.
